Mental Health Training for Nursing Home Staff Using Computer-based Interactive Video: A 6-Month Randomized Trial
High annual turnover rates, 24/7 operations, and complex workloads make staff education one of the most challenging parts of long term care. Getting employees to participate in training can be a logistical nightmare. However, a recent study funded by the National Institute on Aging has proved that these barriers can be overcome.
The study, published in the Journal of American Medical Directors Association, shows Solutions for Long Term Care can help achieve greater training compliance. Researchers examined three long-term care facilities over a six-month period, comparing those that used FarSight Solutions for Long Term Care to those that did not.
The results are convincing. Employees at the facility using FarSight Solutions for Long Term Care attended more training sessions, reported greater training satisfaction, and showed improved retention of the information presented. As a whole, interactive computer-based training showed much more dramatic results than traditional lecture in-services

The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 mandates 12 hours of continuing education for nursing assistants. Unfortunately, finding the time and methods to deliver this training is difficult.
Using FarSight Solutions for Long Term Care, employees can train any time, because the training is computer-based and available around the clock. In the study, employees using FarSight Solutions for Long Term Care participated in training at three times the rate of employees participating in more traditional training.
